How to Download Uber and Lyft Trip Receipts

Sara Artheta·

Every Uber and Lyft ride generates a receipt that stays in your trip history permanently. In Uber: Account → Trips → select the trip → view or resend the receipt (riders.uber.com shows the same with PDF downloads). In Lyft: Menu → Ride history → select the ride → export or resend. If the original receipt email went missing, both apps re-send it in two taps.

Uber: app and web

  1. Open the app → Activity (or Account → Trips).
  2. Select the trip.
  3. Tap Receipt to view it, or Resend receipt to email it again.

For PDFs — which expense systems prefer — use riders.uber.com in a browser: each trip page has a "Download PDF" option with the full fare breakdown (base fare, surge, tolls, fees, tip and tax). Uber Eats order receipts follow the same pattern in the Eats app or site.

Lyft: app and web

  1. Open the app menu → Ride history.
  2. Pick the ride; the price breakdown is the receipt.
  3. Use Send report / export options to email itemized receipts, or view them at lyft.com under Ride history.

Lyft also emails a receipt automatically after every ride — search your inbox for "Lyft ride receipt" before assuming it's gone; the recovery habits from how to replace a lost receipt apply directly.

Business profiles: the automation worth 2 minutes

Both apps offer a free business profile: mark a ride as business and the receipt auto-forwards to your work email, with optional weekly or monthly summaries, and direct integration into Expensify, Concur and Ramp. If you expense rides even monthly, this eliminates the entire chase — the workflow context is in what receipts you need for an expense report.

Monthly statements and tax summaries

Frequent riders can pull consolidated statements: Uber's rider site groups trips by month, and both platforms issue annual summaries useful for self-employed expense tracking when rides are deductible. For drivers, both provide tax summaries on the driver side — a different document set entirely.

Common gaps and fixes

  • Ride booked by someone else: the receipt belongs to the booker's account — ask them to resend it to you.
  • Guest or web bookings: receipts go to the email/phone used at booking; check the confirmation SMS link.
  • Charge doesn't match the receipt: temporary authorization holds and post-trip tip adjustments are the usual culprits; the final receipt in trip history is authoritative.
  • Need a format your finance team accepts: the PDF from the web portal includes every required field — date, route, fare breakdown, payment method. If you must reconstruct a record of a real trip for your own files, the taxi receipt template at /create covers the same fields.

The bottom line

Rideshare receipts are the easiest lost receipts to recover: permanent trip history, two-tap resend, PDF downloads on the web, and business profiles that file everything for you. Set up the business profile once and receipts stop being a task at all.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get an old Uber receipt?
Trip history never expires: app → Activity → select the trip → Receipt, or riders.uber.com for a PDF download. Years-old trips remain accessible with their full fare breakdowns.
Can Lyft resend a receipt email?
Yes. Open Ride history in the app, select the ride, and use the export/send options to re-email the itemized receipt. Lyft also auto-emails receipts after every ride, so check spam first.
How do I get Uber receipts for expense reports automatically?
Create a free business profile in the app and set your work email. Rides marked business auto-forward their receipts and can sync directly to Expensify, Concur or Ramp.
Why doesn't my card charge match my Uber receipt?
You're likely seeing a temporary authorization hold or a pre-tip amount. The final receipt in trip history reflects the settled charge, including tips added after the ride.
